Understanding usage alerts at 80% threshold, what happens at 100%, and grace period allowances.

Introduction

ServerTrack monitors your event usage and alerts you when approaching limits. This guide explains usage thresholds, alert notifications, and what happens at different usage levels.

Important: You'll receive alerts when usage reaches 80% of your plan limit. A grace period of 1,000 events is available after reaching 100%.

Usage Thresholds

ServerTrack has two important usage thresholds:

  • 80% Threshold: Alert notification when usage reaches 80% of your plan limit
  • 100% Threshold: Hard limit reached, grace period of 1,000 events begins

Alert Notifications (80% Threshold)

When your usage reaches 80% of your plan limit:

  • Alert Sent: You receive a notification (email or dashboard alert)
  • Warning Message: Alert indicates you're approaching your limit
  • Action Recommended: Consider upgrading your plan or monitoring usage

The 80% alert gives you time to take action before reaching your limit.

100% Limit Behavior

When you reach 100% of your plan limit:

  • Grace Period Starts: Additional 1,000 events are allowed (grace period)
  • Events Continue: Tracking continues during the grace period
  • Grace Period Limit: Once 1,000 grace events are used, new events are blocked

The grace period prevents immediate service interruption if you slightly exceed your limit.

1,000 Event Grace Period

After reaching 100% of your limit:

  • Additional Events: Up to 1,000 more events allowed
  • Grace Period Expires: Once grace events are exhausted, events are blocked
  • Upgrade Recommended: Upgrade your plan to continue tracking

Note: Grace period events are provided to prevent immediate service interruption. Consider upgrading if you consistently exceed limits.

Monitoring Your Usage

You can monitor usage in your dashboard:

  • Dashboard Display: Current usage shown as X / Y events
  • Percentage Display: Usage percentage shown
  • Usage Trends: View usage over time

What Happens When Limit is Exceeded

Once grace period is exhausted:

  • Events Blocked: New events are blocked from processing
  • Blocked Status: Events show as "blocked" with "Limit Exceeded" message
  • Upgrade Required: Upgrade plan to resume tracking

Upgrade Recommendations

Consider upgrading if:

  • You consistently reach 80% threshold
  • You frequently use the grace period
  • Your usage is trending upward
  • You need higher limits for growth

Checking Your Usage

To check current usage:

  • Go to your Server Deck dashboard
  • View usage information displayed
  • Check usage percentage
  • Review usage trends if available

Summary

Usage thresholds and alerts:

  • Alert at 80% usage to give you time to plan
  • 100% limit allows grace period of 1,000 events
  • After grace period, events are blocked until limit increases
  • Monitor usage regularly in your dashboard
  • Consider upgrading if consistently hitting limits

Usage alerts help you stay within limits and plan for upgrades when needed.
